Volkswagen's key intention is to make transport sustainable. We would like to help you to travel to the Autostadt in a comfortable and climate-conscious way. We will be happy to advise you! We have a special offer for visitors who are collecting vehicles from the ID. family: In order to help you to switch to low-emission e-mobility as soon as possible, we advise you on climate-conscious alternatives for your trip to collect your car. We also calculate the respectively produced carbon emissions, and compensate these with certified climate protection projects.


The Autostadt in Wolfsburg can be reached comfortably by car or bus. The A 2 Autobahn Hanover Berlin will get you to Wolfsburg. Turn off at the intersection A 39 continue to exit Wolfsburg-West. The way to the Autostadt is well sign-posted.

Electric vehicle charging

You can charge your electric vehicle conveniently during your visit at one of several charging columns in the car park by the ServiceHaus.


There are four car parks in the immediate vicinity of the Autostadt. If you are visiting us to collect a vehicle, you can park it for free in one of them after the handover.

Kurzzeitparkplatz/ServiceHaus (short time parking):
6 am - 6 pm: 2 Euro/hour
6 pm - 6 am: 0,50 Euro/hour

6 a.m. – 6 p.m.: 1 Euro/hour 
6 p.m. – 6 a.m.: 0,50 Euro/hour

Rental car drop-off

You can drop off your rental car from car hire service providers such as Avis, Sixt and Europcar, for example, every day between 9 a.m. and 4.45 p.m. fully charged or refuelled with the parking team at the car park booth in the short-term car park. Please follow the "Mietwagenannahme" signs for guidance.

Please note: The one-way fees charged by the providers vary, and not all car rental companies offer a free drop-off at the Autostadt. Please contact the providers directly with regard to the potential one-way fees. If you hire a car via the Autostadt (Avis), there will be no one-way fee.

Visiting us by train

Travel to Wolfsburg comfortably and with zero carbon emissions by taking the train. Aboard a Deutsche Bahn ICE, the journey from Hanover to Wolfsburg takes only 32 minutes. The ICE takes a good hour from Berlin. Direct connections to Frankfurt/M., Leipzig, Cologne and Freiburg make the Autostadt an attractive destination for train travellers.

The Autostadt is only a few minutes walk across the Stadtbrücke bridge away from Wolfsburg's main railway station and the central coach station (ZOB).
